Royal Canadian Yacht Club:
Summer Ball – Case Study
Every year the Royal Canadian Yacht Club hosts a summer ball. A convenor is appointed to oversee the event and I work with them to create all the marketing elements required for the event.
The first element created is the poster for the event indicating the date, times, and pricing details. The convenor decided on the ‘Havana Nights’ theme for the event for 2019 and I worked with her to create the right feel for the poster. She wanted to use warm colours and recognizable images from Cuban culture.
Once the poster was approved I created different versions – banner for the website, a digital screen version and the 2′ x 3′ printed posters to be posted at the Clubhouses.
After creating the poster, the convenor and I sat down to discuss the design for the menus along with table cards and escort cards for the day of the event. We settled on a palm tree design for the menus, escort cards and table cards.
A few days prior to the event all menus, escort cards, and table numbers were printed and cut by hand to make sure everything was in place for the big day. A speciality cocktail was added and a small poster was created and printed.
